Clement Desalle third to gate in Italy

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team's Clement Desalle goes third to the gate in tomorrow's GP of Trentino, fourth round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship.

The Belgian already felt comfortable in practice around the switchback Pietramurata track set in glorious surroundings amongst the mountains in the north of Italy, setting the fourth fastest time, and he continued the fine form in the qualifying race as he emerged from the second corner in fourth place and had already moved forward to third during the opening lap. He held the position securely throughout the race to earn third choice of gate for each of the points-scoring motos.

Clement Desalle: “During the free and timed practice sessions we worked with the team on the set-up of the bike, and our results improved throughout the day with a fourth position in the timed practice period and third in the qualifying race. As usual you need a good start in the race, and I was in the top five in the first corner; I had a good feeling with the bike and scored a third position, which gives me a good gate for the GP races.”

Desalle's KRT teammate Julien Lieber earnt tenth choice of gate, while Maxime Desprey and Alessandro Lupino of Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki took eighth and fifteenth places.

Kawasaki riders also enjoyed success in MX2 with Adam Sterry, Ruben Fernandez and Jed Beaton of the F&H Racing Team earning seventh, eighth and fourteenth choice of gate tomorrow. Darian Sanayei, a strong second in Spain two weeks ago, was unfortunately unable to compete; the American damaged the ACL ligament in his right knee last weekend and the pain persuaded him to withdraw from the GP after attempting to ride during the first practice session.
